Park West Gallery review by Condor112
I called one of the customer service reps at Park West and they told me because of my financial hardship, they would be canceling the painting..I asked the customer service rep both by FAX and phone message to send me a confirmation on this..So far, nothing has arrived in my mail box, phone call or e-mail..So I have no knowledge of the painting being cancelled...Just by word of mouth form the customer service rep..I am still waiting for a call back and hopefully I will hear from them soon..If not, I will be contacting the state Attorney Generals Office in FL if I don't get a confirmation and I find it on the bill when it arrives..

Now THAT is funny!!! I was an auctioneer for Park West, they are con artists and liars. The Dalis they have are PROVEN fakes. Peter Max hasnt sold a work of art outside PWG for years, and you can get an Original painting of Max's for $2000. www.fineartregistry.com will let you know all you need about these con artists

Jim,

That is a wonderful story for someone that is so into art.

Let me just make one thing clear about going to Art auction @ sea. If you take a picture of a painting you want, and look for it at home. That is Not a One of a Kind.

If it’s a painting there could only be one in the world.

So when you are giving people advise like that. You have to mention that you are taking pictures of a Limited edition and not a painting.

Second.

Jim

Please do yourself a favour. An Etching is not done in pencil. Just Google Etching and you will find out. You commenting on that just show me that you are not listening to what the auctioneer is saying. And don't really have an idea what an etching is.

So to all the readers! Go on and see for yourself. Jim isn't such an art expert.

Last

If you have a comment about Peter Max!

Do yourself a favour.

Look at what Peter Max has done just in the last 9 years.

Most important 9/11

Max created 6 works to which the proceeds has gone to the 9/11 Fund. Deeply affected by the events and aftermath of September 11th, Max like many of us wanted to respond. The artist created posters to benefit the September 11th Fund and The Survivors Fund. The Patriotic Posters with proceeds benefiting the September 11th Fund

What did you do Jim?

And

Max was asked to create the American Heroes project, a creation of 356 portraits of the fire fighters lost on 9-11 and in that year.

He created one portrait for each fire fighter's that died, and presented and each family receive a portrait of their loved one as a gift from Peter Max, the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters)

JIM, WHAT DID YOU DO?

My message to you is first to do you research before you have a comment on what others are doing.

To all readers!

A person like Jim doesn’t really know what is going on. And a person that recommends Ebay to buy your paintings from is like buying a painting from the guy that sells paintings at a yard sale.

Regards

Concerned Reader

I just found out that my 3-Salvador Dali's I purchased from park west are "FAKES"!! I paid over $17,000 for them. My advice is to stay away from anything they sell of dead artists!!!! This company will be exposed soon so stay tuned!! This is a WARNING to anyone who buys art from PARK WEST!!!!

Park west is like a antique, its worth whatever you can get for it.

park west specializes in artist that do allot of giclees or quick originals. keep in mind they have allot to sell and that means the artist must be quick. I can prove this comment.

one of the painters is alexander chen and mr. chen takes a long time to make a painting so you will never ever see a original chen in park west anywhere. i challenge you to find one. it doesnt exist. just tons and i mean tons of giclee's

lets talk about Dali , petr Max and rembrandt.

A. dali originals they do have but very rare

b. peter max they have originals but his art is simple. a 5 year old could produce such art. it takes minutes to make a max. i dont car how famous he is.

c. rembrandt. ahh they puch his pencil etchings all day long but no one is ever impressed and after 22 cruises i have yet to see one sell.

you cant really call park west a scam gallery because they dont sell real art in the first place. , for example next time your at park west auction, ask yourself have I ever heard of any of these artist. most you will not. and how many are original oil on canvas paintngs and not giclee's.

prints, poster, prints on canvas, sighned lithographs signed serialgraphs even hand emblished giclee's are all complete scams. because the artist needs money and cant produce his art fast enough and he knows he's overcharging for his art. he's offers alll this other crap.

in this case the artist and park west are both in the scam together. park west wants your money and the artist has sold his soul to the devil for money.

true artist starve on the streets if they have too in order to keep the art they produce true to thier heart. if you cant afford an original then pick a artist you can afford or dont buy a tall. but dont buy this reprint crap. it is a rip off.

:) I have been completely satisfied with Park West Gallery. I went on a cruise and was introduced to the great world of Peter Max. After the cruise, we purchased another Peter Max on ebay which turned out to be a fake. You may think you're getting a better deal on ebay, but buyer beware. Long term--a proper COA from a gallery like Park West is everything!!!!!

These auctions are not meant for people that lack the property knowledge to make good choices. It too bad people like Jim have so much money and time on their hands to play such childish games.

I am a bit of a cruise freak. I take on average 3 cruises a year. one year for the heck of it I did 6 cruises in one year. I think this qualifies me to show you insight on park west and insight on what a cruise person might think of Park West Art auctions.

1. Park west is in business to make money so don’t be surprised if they are there to make money. that’s what any company does.

2. When you’re on a cruise, they have you in a remote area where they can sell anything they like and if you buy it then you have yourself to blame. Do your homework and make sure it’s the price you want to pay. Don’t have buyer’s remorse and call it a scam because you make yourself look dumb. If you bought the item then you only have yourself to blame. No one twisted your arm.

Now that I got that off my chest let me give you how I feel about Park West. Yes they are a big rip-off. Go on Ebay and look up people selling park west items on eBay and you will find no bids. NOTHING IS SELLING AT ALL! And if it does sell then its half the price they paid for it on the cruise. That I guarantee!! Now this doesn’t mean they are a rip off because after all it is a auction and you did buy it. No one twisted your arm. I have bought 3 Alexander Chen paintings on a cruise and one Manoukian, Martiros but I'm not mad because I wanted them. They are not very well known painters and park west was only place I could get them. Plus I never spend more than 3 grand for a painting so if they can sucker me into getting these paintings then they got me and more power to them.

now of course this is before I learned more about paintings, eBay and other places to get them so now what I do on the cruise is go to the auction look for the painting I want, write it down or take a picture of it and look for it when I get home. I have done that 3 times and all three times the painting could have been bought online with real appraisals that even say park west for 60% less if not more. So go on ebay, trust me it’s cheap and real.

So in closing and my opinion, Park west is taking advantage of the uneducated but here is some good news… When you go to the Auction they give free champagne. You don’t have to buy anything, you get to look at paintings you might like and go home do your homework and find the painting half price if not more off. Also another tad bit of good news. If you do by from park west the appraisal does stand up well with your insurance and you can claim it if it is lost or stolen or fire, or flood and you will get full appraised value. So that is a plus. Set your house on fire and you will get full price back from insurance. lol

I spoke with a park west guy on a NCL cruise and he told me it is getting harder and harder to sell on the cruises. That allot of people do what I do, so if you really want to hurt park west. Go to the auction, drink the champagne put tickets and tags on items you want to see on the auction board and don’t bid. It’s funny because the auctioneer will not sell anything and he will be very mad.. We did this on the NCL cruise, it was a 10 day cruise and 5 days into the cruise he wanted to kill himself. It was fun fun fun. Tag it all and watch them not sell again again and again. By the time the cruise was over he had given up totally on the auction and on the last day he just hung out with us and got drunk. He never knew we duped him the whole cruise.

so moral to the story is don’t get mad. Get even. LOLOL

P.S. plan on doing this again on June 28th on another cruise were going on. Champagne on the house, bogus tagging and no bids. We have 10 people going. We are really going to mess with him this time. oh trust me I got my monies worth.

p.s.s. Just think of it like a new car. whoever buys it first pays the suckers price. it’s always cheaper to wait and buy it a year old. allot cheaper. So let some shmuck trying to show off his flashy cash buy it then you can buy it from them and then you buy it on ebay or someone else for half that. I guarantee it will work
