I was on a Princess Cruise from Australia to Vancouver, from April 8th to May 7th.

Purchased some art. The painting by Daniel Wall sent to my son in California was the wrong painting.Invoice 2DC2-043-3, date 05/06/2019.

I am sending the pictures of both. The one ordered was the one with the couple and the dog. I have the copy of the invoice given at the Ship item CP316, Reg/Ser Number 822160 Spring Night by Daniel Wall, price $790, Art 611.00. Shipping was charged for $179.

I believe shipping should have been included. Appraisal 35.00. Total 825, payment summary, paid by Visa on the Ship.

The one sent, is the picture with the three benches, no dog, smaller and different painting.

Let me know what could you do about it. My son and wife like the one they got but I think the price should be less.

It is smaller.

I will be waiting for your answer. I also left a voice message. My telephone is 604 988 **** Canada.

My E-mail dennisrbutchartsr@***.ca Probably better for you to send me an E-mail. Thanks.

I received two more paintings in Canada by Itzchak Tarkay and they were the correct ones.

Soemia Butchart.

Worst company ever. Biggest scam out there

Have been brainwashed by these people for years. Have purchased many pieces as investments and up until recently had no idea that most of my paintings are worth next to nothing. I was told I bought original "right out of the family's collection and letting it go just for Park West" Pino as well as many other artists. Over $100,000+ over the past 15 years. As stupid as I feel, I'd rather warn others about this horrible company. About a month ago, after waiting over 6 months for my appraisal of another "original" Pino, I was given one estimate for just over $9,000. The opening bid and the only bid was @$40,000, which I was the proud owner of. Although the appraisal didn't say original on it, and was only for around $9,000, I called and complained. The next appraisal they sent me was for over $60,000. They said they made a mistake. Hmmmmmmm.....people that buy from Park West are the only ones making a mistake. I just hired an independent fine art appraiser, plan on finding a lawyer, and hopefully, get the word out to as many people as I can.

Return of Damaged Art

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
At the end of May 2019, my wife and I returned a piece of art that had been received damaged from PWG. Since then, we have been forced to call customer service many times for info on the return which has turned out to be an effort in futility! Though the art has now finally been shipped once again by FedEx (something I was informed of not by PWG but by FedEx), the shipment has been sent with errors that have caused us to refuse it and we have been forced to ask FedEx to ship it back to PWG a second time. I would have to rate PWG as the very worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Why companies like Celebrity allow a company and people like these on board their ships to take advantage of their passengers is beyond me.

I do like Park West, from a store side, but try never to have to deal with the people in the back office. They are both confused, slow and overall a pain to work with. I took part in one of their payment plans for artwork, but the card I gave them expired, and of course I was issued a new card. However, they never placed the new card on the account, and I didn't find out till five months later. When I tried to put a new card on the account they said too late and cancelled my account and I lost my order. The people on the ground are pleasant to deal with, but pay cash.

Bought art aboard Princess Cruise. Got home and did research. Found out what a fraud of a company they are. Cancelled before they even send the first piece on June 1. They said Princess should have the money refunded to them around August 1. What a crock. The art is an overrated print copy of the originals. Beware of this company.

I purchased a piece on a ship and was told several times that I would be getting the exact piece I was looking at. Instead I got a similar piece with completely different colors, number, and size. I was told that it's the same thing, and if I want a refund, I have to pay the shipping to me and back to them.

Guess I’ll find out if pictures show up.

I bought a framed Kincaid on the Regal Princess June 1-11. I asked several times if it came framed. They assured me it did. When I got a confirmation that a print that I did not order was being framed, I called to find out what was going on, things went downhill from there. There was a painting I wanted but that got cancelled. I gave up and cancelled everything. I received an email yesterday asking for extra information. After waiting for 20 minutes, I was told they didn’t need anything? Is it all cancelled or not?

Same problem - I cancelled my order after I returned from cruise. Needed money for cancer treatment.

They shipped most two weeks later anyway and then one painting (the least expensive) got an e-mail saying its pending shipment but they needed more info.

Sorry but CANCEL means CANCEL. Would like there to be a class action lawsuit.

I won a Thomas Kinkade book on board the Emerald Princess in April 2019. Since then I have been trying to get the shipping agents to send the book. I have been in contact with Samual Carter Jr in the customer care who has requested this book be sent. There is still no sign of the book being sent. This is not good for your reputation and I will also be contacting Princess Cruises to also convey my disappointment of this situation. I have already paid $25 for the postage and expect the goods to be delivered. Rehards Mr G H Winter

Park West Gallery - Bait and Switch
Park West Gallery - Bait and Switch - Image 2

I was invited to a VIP event in Litchfield AZ. My wife and I spent $22K+.

One purchase was Remero Britto's "Growing Field" for $7800. Problem was they sold it at least twice and we weren't the first ones. Then they refused to refund our money as it was "All sales are final". Attached is a picture of my wife and I with Mr Britto and what we THOUGHT we bought.

The first picture is what they sent us.

Now the interesting thing, I have spent between $60,000 and $70,000 purchasing art from this firm.

My first purchase was $16,000+. my second purchase was $24,000 while on a VIP cruise and my 3rd purchase was over $23,000 at a VIP event at the Wigwam in Litchfield AZ.

We have currently engaged a lawyer to push this along while PW continues to drag their feet.

I’m in total agreement. I went to their auctions on a cruise and was astounded at what people were bidding on, me knowing full-well that they were prints! I didn’t spend a dime but did drink their champagne!

People Brainwashed by ParkWest Staff Thinking they are making great fine art acquisitions

People who buy from Park West Galleries, in my opinion, are Brainwashed by Park West staff thinking they are making great fine art acquisitions. When you try to reveal the truth about the quality of the fine art and the artists they represent, those brainwashed people are snobbish and defensive when you try to bring them down to earth. When I hear them comparing Peter Max to Pablo Picasso, or bragging about collecting Tarkay or other "Cruise Ship" artists, I try to cover art history and art appreciation with them and tell them that experiencing art on a cruise ship is a fun thing, but don't be mislead and think you are dealing with highly collectible and rare artists and that you are getting really great deals, because I know a number of highly respected appraisers that will not even look at the stuff anymore and auction houses like Sotheby's and Christie's don't want top touch the stuff either. Buy from a reputable gallery and people who are enthusiastic about fine art and galleries who put their name and reputation behind the fine art that they sell.

Bait & Switch

I purchased 2 pieces of art on a Carnival cruise.....1 piece came in a timely manner but the other piece could not be found!! Seems it got lost or sold to someone else....they were never clear!! I went round & round with their customer service and was issued a 75% cash refund after a lengthy phone battle! 25% of the cost was issued in a gift certificate to use with Park West! This was entirely the fault of Park West and I will never do business with them again so what good is this certificate! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN YOU COULD ACTUALLY GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE!!

Never, Never, Never Buy From Parkwest

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
First time I purchased anything on a cruise ship and it will be my last. My wife and myself took a Caribbean cruise on Carnival from August 5 through August 12. We decided to attend one of those "free art auctions" because of the salesperson that talked to us while we warned past the gallery. We saw a few pieces that we liked and decided to bid on them. We won them and was explained that we had 40 days to decide if we wanted to keep the art work once we got them to our house. About 4 week later the art worked arrive to our front door. Now, Park West never told us they were shipping the art, it was lucky I checked the front door of our house. That notwithstanding, I open the package and saw that only four of the five pieces arrived, they included a letter explaining that the fifth would be arriving "later" but they didn't offer any other details. So, I called and spoke to a very rude customer service individual and she told me that they were within the 12 week shipping period. However she could not tell me when I would receive the art work. I asked could I cancel and she said yes, but I would be returning under the "40/40" return policy. She then said she will explain to me what that policy is and I can read along if I had the invoice. I explain to her that I was driving, so no I did not have a copy of the invoice with me. She then explained to me that I would only receive 85% of the amount spent on the artwork and that 15% is over stocking fee, however I will be receiving that 15% in the form of a Parkwest Gallery in store credit. I've been asked to speak to a supervisor, after a brief hold he told me the same thing and said there was nothing I can do to receive a full refund and that I agreed to this when I purchased the art. He said that my refund would be processed by Park West, then they would send the information to Carnival Cruise Lines and Carnival would be issuing me the final refund. None of this was ever explain to us on the ship, everyone in the auction that we attended were told that we would have 40 days to see if we like the artwork and if not we can return it for any reason for full refund. So, I called our credit card company and have initiated a dispute of the charges. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Florida state attorney generals office. Never, never, never, will I ever buy anything from Parkwest .

Cant get any worse then it is

I bought a painting on the princess cruise back in august 2018 - so far no painting - - they forgot take if off the ship the first time then when the did they lost in their warehouse - called several Mondays to find out where the painting was and no one new - I did talk to a supervisor (who was very rude)irnd she said it was being process but did not know what process meant she- not to bright - - on 12/3/81 a miracle occurred the paint was found and was to be shipped (expedite - to means overnight) - I called this am and was told it was delivered on 12/8/18 to unknown persons - the business it was told to send it to is open Monday thru Friday (NOT ON WEEKENDS) - they want to check further with FedEx to see who signed for it (of course you know they said FedEx is down so they cannot check) they are good at story telling - No management is available to talk to -- at this time they do not want to give me my money back in full - - they said it will now take 3 days to find out where the painting is - - Never buy anything on board the Princess Lines - Would not give Park West even one star it would be a minus - Thank you

Nothing is as they say it is

I have purchased several hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of art through Park West. Unfortunately I have needed to sell the art but have been unable to.

I have tried several auction houses and appraisal companies all of which have said they would only be able to get pennies on the dollars for me. They have all said that what I have is basically worthless. I have everything from Disney to Picasso and all are worthless...how is this even possible??

At this point I am at a loss as to what to do and how to recoup some of my investment. They are not going to go up in value over time...so thinking that "Oh well I will pass them on to my children" means nothing....any answers????

You said that you have purchased hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of art. At what point did you discover the art was worthless?

My wife and I have taken 11 cruises. On our first cruise, we attended every auction and made several purchases.

When the art arrived, and for insurance purposes had a non-Park West appraisal done, and was told that everything that we had purchased was basically worthless. Needless to say, we have never attended another Park West auction.

I have made several purchases as well. I should have done more research before attending a recent VIP event.

They had several Max paintings dated 2018 and 2019. Despite the New York Times recent article that Max has not painted in years because of his dementia, they continue to settle the oil paintings as 100% originals.

We got scammed for a few small paintings but someone paid over $28K for ne of his original paintings. They should be ashamed of themselves and should be put out of business.

Most of the "Art" they sell are cheap reproductions that they pass off as originals to unsuspecting travelers.
